Learning Patience

Image
Recently, I have been overwhelmed by work and different personal responsibilities that I keep dumping on myself. Some responsibilities are vital, but some can wait especially if you don’t have the ability or time to accomplish them yet. I believe timing is of essence, there is always a right time for everything. Reading my Bible today reminded me that maybe, just maybe the time for some of my desires to materialize is not this year or today. I have to learn patience.   Patience…    What is Patience  Jonathan   sef ? (lol..) Patience  is the  state of endurance under difficult circumstances , which can mean persevering in the face of delay or provocation without acting on annoyance/anger in a negative way. It also means  exhibiting forbearance when under strain,  especially when faced with longer-term difficulties. It is usually used to refer to the character trait of being steadfast. Patience helps you be at peace in every storm or circumstance. It is like wa

By Shally A. Me, Bola, and my beautiful mentor Mrs Enahoro :) It’s a known fact that Nigerians don’t read, but as I saw numerous people trooping in and out of Laterna Bookstore for the book-signing of  Bola Essien-Nelson  book, I was a little tempted to  ‘yimu’  and say  ‘oyinbo statistics.’ As this is the second book-signing event I have attended, I didn’t really know what to expect but like the Good Book says,  my expectation was not cut off  ( forget I said didn’t have an expectation o! ). At the book-stand, I scrutinized all her books  wella . Indecisive Shally was wondering which one to buy. I was attracted to the colourful cover-page of her latest DNW book. It had a distinctive Nigerian touch. A middle-aged woman sat on the floor with a hint of sarcasm glittering in her eyes, her  gele  was almost reaching the stars and her dress was made from patches of different Ankara fabrics. THE AWAKENING

Author Unknown Be free...... A time comes in your life when you finally get it...when, in the midst of all your fears and insanity, you stop dead in your tracks and somewhere the voice inside your head cries out - ENOUGH! Enough fighting and crying or struggling to hold on. And, like a child quieting down after a blind tantrum, your sobs begin to subside, you shudder once or twice, you blink back your tears and begin to look at the world through new eyes. This is your awakening. You realize it's time to stop hoping and waiting for something to change...or for happiness, safety and security to come galloping over the next horizon. You come to terms with the fact that neither of you is Prince Charming or Cinderella and that in the real world there aren't always fairy tale endings (or beginnings for that matter) and that any guarantee of "happily ever after" must begin with you...and in the process a sense of serenity is born of acceptance.
