How to fail
By Shally A.
Failure is not a single, cataclysmic event. We do not fail overnight.
Failure is the inevitable result of an accumulation of poor thinking and poor
choices. To put it more simply, failure
is nothing more than a few errors in judgment repeated every day. GBAM!!!
These
were the first words in Jim’s deep article. This article made me think wella and transformed my mindset o! I
would like to share my insights with you.
Before I start sharing my very deep insights, let’s find out a little about Jim...
Before I start sharing my very deep insights, let’s find out a little about Jim...
Emmm… Jim
Rohn?
Jim
Rohn (September 17, 1930 - December 5, 2009), was an American Entrepreneur, author and motivational
speaker. For more than 40 years Jim taught strategies that have expended his
listeners and readers imagination. His rags to riches story played a large part in his work, which
influenced others in the personal development industry.
Jim is widely regarded
as one of the most influential thinkers of all time, and thought of by many as
a national treasure. He has authored countless books and audio and video
programs, and helped motivate and shape an entire generation of
personal-development trainers and hundreds of executives from America's top
corporations.
His first speech
titled "Idaho Farm Boy Makes It to Beverly Hills," went over so well
that he received more invitations to share it, and better yet, they started
paying him for it, (Yes O! where I am
aspiring to get to, being paid for my talent). From then on, Jim Rohn became
a trailblazer in the self-help and personal development industry, impacting the
lives of millions through his life-changing material.
What I learnt from Jim’s article...
- · Our daily acts do not seem that important. A minor oversight, a poor decision or a wasted hour generally doesn't result in an instant and measurable impact. More often than not, we escape from any immediate consequences of our deeds. Simply put, our future depends on how we invest today. Although we don’t see immediate consequences of our daily habits, these consequences await us in the future.
- · The formula for success is easy to follow; it is a few simple disciplines (right/new behavior) practiced every day. When we begin to consciously make the future an important part of our current philosophy the results are almost immediate. As we voluntarily change daily errors into daily disciplines, we experience positive results in a very short period of time. When we change our diet, our health improves noticeably in just a few weeks. When we start exercising, we feel a new vitality almost immediately. When we begin reading, we experience a growing awareness and a new level of self-confidence. Whatever new discipline we begin to practice daily will produce exciting results that will drive us to become even better at developing new disciplines.
- · Our major problem is we are so caught up in the current moment that our bad habits do not seem to matter. The problems and the rewards of today are so absorbing to some human beings that they never pause long enough to think about tomorrow. But if we develop a new discipline to take just a few minutes every day to look a little further down the road, we would then be able to foresee the impending consequences of our current conduct.
- · Both success and failure involve future consequences, namely the inevitable rewards or unavoidable regrets resulting from past activities. Ose!!!
The real magic of new disciplines is that they will cause us
to amend our thinking. If we were to start today to read the books, keep a
journal, attend the classes, listen more and observe more, then today would be
the first day of a new life leading to a better future. If we were to start
today to try harder, and in every way make a conscious and consistent effort to
change subtle and deadly errors into constructive and rewarding disciplines, we
would never again settle for a life of existence—not once we have tasted the
fruits of a life of substance!
So choose today which way you want to go…
I like this view of failure and success.

I definitely didn't want to read this esp. as I just finished my masters and I am in the course of becoming a professional in my field, yet everything said was right. I have never seen someone say how to fail! It puts a different spin on knowing how one is to succeed in life!
ReplyDelete@Ag Yes it does... its a really thought-provoking article. In btw, I really like your blog.
ReplyDeleteLovely and inspiring piece! Just keep at it; I see your dream materializing sooner than you expect. You'll surely be paid for your talent and by then it will be of Global reach. You wrote highlighting that the little choices of today might not bring instant results but ultimately there will be outcomes; in this vein I say 'the choice of having a blog and staying with it to inspire will ultimately culminate in a media house/station with Global reach. Thanks for allowing us learn from you. God bless!
